Sherlock Holmes

Ok so I said I was taking a bit of time out but what can I say? The lure of the keyboard was too much? I missed you bunch of cheery fuckers? Actually the reality is it makes me fucking feel better and right fucking now I don't feel fucking good at all and where the fuck is there another fucking blog where you can fucking swear as much as you fucking well bollocks want to and you fuckers actually think it's fucking literature! Anyway back to the film. I can't lie I rarely visit fucking cinemas in school holidays. The very thought of sharing a room with a bunch of skinny kids wearing My Chemical Romance t-shirts or fat spotty chavs in those fucking silly tucked in tracksuits makes me want to fucking hurt people. Teenagers are what set off my Hulk rage. I actually wanted to go watch Avatar but that's a trip to MK and that's a hundred times fucking worse.
So my local Cineworld it was and Guy Ritchies take on Sherlock Holmes. I'm a bit of a Holmes fan and unlike most people I haven't just watched Basil Rathbone in the 1939 classic Hound Of The Baskervilles I've actually read quite a few of the books so I was looking forward to Holmes. The one drawback I'd noticed in the marketing campaign was Jude Fucking Law who I hate with a passion so could Downy Jnr rescue it from mediocrity? Well fucking yes, yes and yes. I even hate writing this but even that twat Law was fucking good as Dr Watson. You've probably all seen this by now but so fucking what I haven't written a review for ages so you can fucking read this.
The plot is usual Holmes with the mysterious Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong) being hung for his dastardly crimes but he reappears as if from the dead to begin a deadly plot to murder all the members of Parliment and begin a new British World Order which I have to say I wish was something that was going on now but moving on. Holmes is called in to solve the plot of this evil cad and bring those involved to justice. With the help of loyal sidekick Watson they solve the mystery whilst having kick ass fights and adventure along the way. It's all pretty good stuff and Victorian London as never looked better. Throw in a rather gorgeous Holmes love interest played by Rachal Mcadams and it rolls along like an old saturday matinee film.
Strong is sinister with his moments of dark magic and I think he is definitely going places. The story in reality though is just a backdrop to what is inevitably the sequel as throughout we catch glimpses of a figure in the shadows and if you know Holmes at all you'll know that part two will feature his ultimate nemesis. I really recommend Sherlock Holmes as it's just great fun and it's good to see Ritchie doing something a bit different from Lock Stock etc although you could say that Holmes as an element of that in it but it works. the real joy though is Downey Jnr who plays the role to perfection. Rude, intelligent, crass, hard drinking, fighting genius is how I always envisioned him to be and like Casino Royale did for Bond this is a new Holmes and I fucking love it.

Who knew Sherlock Holmes knew kung-fu.
"Elementary my dear WATATATATAAA"
Still haven't seen it yet but I'll add your recommendation to the list. Good to have you back, man...
Good to see Mr Fuck Off levels of swearing back in reviews.
Sounds like you're turning gay in your old age - oh drunken one. Liking Jude Law and putting up naked pics of Downy Jnr.
However I shall be going to see it on Weds.
I only like Law as Watson and still think he's a twat as for the naked picture that's for you. Its good to be back.
Ahh ffs, I really wanted to hate this, but first Anti-Richie lord Kermode gives it the thumbs up, then (and more importantly) our very own DM has given it the go ahead too!! damn.
Oh and where's the rating bitch? you go away for 5 minutes and think you can change the format huh!?!
The fucking rating is up now and yes I can do what the fuck I like. Did you not read about the kitten. Rob keep looking over your shoulder because you never know when i'll be there. Your time is marked bitch.
Yes it is definately worth watching. Good old fashioned fun!
I always look over my shoulder for you, but enough about your cottaging tendencies!
Will add it to the stupid list of films I've not managed to make it to the cinema to see. Bah.
But Rob I learnt all those things from you.
I want to see this movie! no, I NEED to see it!
Yes you do.
