John Carter Who?

This will no doubt make most of you utter the above. I have the advantage of being a little educated and literature is a subject I am very fond of. So let me say John Carter is based on a story by Edgar rice Burroughs who you may know wrote Tarzen amongst others. What astounds me is the time these type of writers were in and they came up with great Sci-Fi like this. Will the film be any good? I really don't know but it's worth a shot.
