Alice In Nowhereland?

You might have seen this bunch of putrid giraffe bollocks on the news in the last 24 hours but I thought I'd fill you in on what's been going on. You may know the premiere of Alice is at Odeon Leicester Square tomorrow night but it would appear that this is the only Odeon cinema that it will be shown at. Odeon and Disney have placed their handbags on the floor of the disco and are slapping each other around the face in the first Cinema chain, studio face off of the 21st century. So what's it all about? Well you may have the knowledge that there is a 17week gap between cinema release and DVD but Disney want to reduce that to 12 so they can cash in quickly. Odeon are very upset by this and a spokesman for Odeon who was weeping into his herbal tea said "The negative impact on cinema attendance will threaten the existence of cinemas, especially smaller ones." As usual I have an opinion on this rather fucking pathetic row and it's this.... what a load of fucking bullshit. Let's be honest here how long is a film shown for anyway? Unless it's a film of Avatar like proportions the chances are it will only show for about 4-6 weeks anyway and if it's an independent film it may be as little as a week if at all. As for having the fucking nuts to even mention smaller cinemas it made me fucking choke on my coffee. It's chains like Odeon that have all but destroyed the smaller cinemas. My message is clear to Odeon. Pick up your toys and fucking grow up. Do you think Disney give a shit what you think? Just show the fucking film and stop being gay. Cunts!

Word is the industry hopes that Disney wins this one, so they can follow suit. Theatres have too much power and that needs to change.
Come on mofos - let's see some discussion!
For me it's just a non starter. I really can't see the arguement against it at all. Odeon are just being twats. As if Alice would play in their cinemas for 12 weeks. If the film is hugely successful at cinemas then I'm sure Disney would delay the DVD but Odeon arguement is just fucking weak. How many films show for 3 months? Not fucking many is the answer.
I have to say Jimmy I didn't realise you were a Yank. Theatres? I'm sure we call them cinemas here.
I'm rather flipped off actually. Was looking forward to seeing it and a friend informed me earlier on that Odeon won't be showing. Bunch of douchebags :/
Except they will be showing it now!

Am now rejoicing over it.
