Terry Stone Interview

1.You are of course the legendary rave promoter Terry Turbo and believe it or not I actually attended your first rave at Roller Express in Edmonton. Can't remember what it was called but it was a good night. How easy have you found it to make the move from that scene into acting?

If you compare my journey to most Actors it has been a very quick journey. I have worked very hard over the last seven years to get where I am today, so it is in no way been an over night success but with Acting you can't make it happen it either does or it doesn't. I remember when I sold my club promoting business to go into a new career at 31 years of age into acting everyone in the rave scene thought I had gone mad, I'm glad I hadn't!

2.Of course you began in the usual British way in stuff like the Bill but came to the notice of people in the underrated Rollin With The Nines alongside Jason Flemyng and Billy Murray who's been around for a few years now. Do you like to appear in low budget flicks or do you fancy a Hollywood blockbuster?

I enjoy low budget flicks very much as they are where every Actor cuts there teeth and learns there craft so I would highly recommend it to every Actor out there, there is no point in being all wanky and saying you will only work on big budget movies, they will come to you eventually but if you don't make a name for yourself first then why would anyone risk giving you an acting job in a big Hollywood movie? I would love to do a Hollywood blockbuster movie and I will do one very soon but one thing that I don't want to do and what I don't get is when I see British Actors popping up in these big budget Hollywood Films and they don't even have any dialogue or if they do they say just one line I do think to myself what's the fucking point of that you may as well be an extra and although it looks great on your CV when someone says wow you worked on the latest Batman film what part did you play and you say I was bloke number 5 who opens the door and says "Hi Batman", That to me is just mugging yourself off.

3.Speaking of Hollywood anyone you'd like to work with? Say Keanu Reeves or Nic Cage and we'll have to slap you!

Both of those, ha ha. I grew up watching Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Ray Winstone, Joe Pesci, Michael Caine, Sylvestor Stallone, Leonardo De Caprio, Samuel Jackson & John Travolta so any of those guys would be great!

4.Rise Of  The Footsoldier was a pretty fucking good film in which you played the rather unstable Tony Tucker. Do you think films like that glamourise violence and that lifestyle? Personally I think that's a load of bollocks.

Thank you very much, my wife almost left me when I was filming that so I must have got right into that unstable character!
I don't think any gangster film glamorises the lifestyle or violence if anything I think it shows you what can and does happen if you choose to live your life like that: you end up hurt, dead or in prison and as far as I'm aware there is nothing glamorous about that

5.Speaking of Tony Tucker that was a fucking special wig. Did you choose it yourself?

Ha ha no I didn't, but if you go on youtube or look at any of the pictures of the real Tony Tucker he did have a bit of a mad barnet.

6.I thought Doghouse was a great fucking laugh and you obviously worked with up and coming horror director Jake West, Noel Clarke,Danny Dyer and Stephen Graham. To me thats a fucking stag weekend guest list. Was filming it as much of a laugh as the film?

It was hilarious and great fun and it was great to work with such great Actors.
So far my favourite filming experiences were on Doghouse & Rise of The Footsoldier.

7.Despite the make up some of those Zombirds were fucking hot though weren't they?

Yes they were all hot especially The Snipper, The Witch, Foxy, Bubbles, The Dentist & The Teen they were my favourites in no particular order.

8.So what's next for Terry Stone?

I have a new film company I am working with called "Gateway Films" who are making a lot of great movies over the next few years including some animated children's movies.
Acting wise confirmed for the rest of this year I have "Shank" which is a futuristic Adulthood type film filming in September, "Jack Falls" which is the follow on from "Jack Said" around November time; "Bonded By Blood" which is a film just about The Essex Boys which the Footsoldier fans will absolutely love & "Bob And The Lost Idols" which is the kids movie.
Forthcoming Films I'm starring in or have been involved with that are coming out on DVD before Xmas are
"Reckoning Day" by Julian Gilbey (Rise of the Footsoldier) on Monday 14th September;
"Unarmed But Dangerous" aka "Kung Fu Flid" with Frank Harper on Monday 28th September;
"Jack Said" alongside Danny Dyer and David O'Hara on Monday 5th October;
"Doghouse" alongside Danny Dyer, Noel Clarke, Stephen Graham on Monday 12th October.

9.You're working with a few first time directors and of course with Alex Rodriguez any thoughts on cracking Hollywood?

I have been over there a few times and to be honest I think it is a waste of time for me at the moment as there are a lot of Brits out there chasing the dream and I am a firm believer if you can't make it in your own country first then why would you think you could make it in LA where all the best looking and most talented individuals all over the World flock to hoping to get a lucky break in TV or the Movies?
Look at Ray Winstone, Jason Statham, Vinnie Jones, Gary Stretch and Michael Caine they all wanted to work in Hollywood but Hollywood came to them not the other way round, I think its better that way and its a lot cheaper.

10.Have you checked out the site and what do you think?
I think its fucking great!

Well thanks for your time Terry. As an ex-raver and a film fan it's been a privilege and I wish you all the best for the future. Any message for our readers?

Thanks Russell its been great, thanks for the interview mate! To any filmmakers or actors out there the key to success is not listening to people saying you can't do it or it won't work, if you get the calling just do it and don't ever give up. I have a rock on my desk with the following message engraved on it "Winners Never Quit and Quitters Never Win!" Its so true
