I decided to do my 10 scariest monsters in film and initially was thinking about the usual suspects. You know the ones. Those that haunt your dreams or you remember fondly from your childhood. The likes of Kruger with his razor fingered glove, the cloak swathed figure of Dracula or the giant body crushing power of Jurassic Parks T-Rex. Then I got to really thinking. Surely the scariest monsters are those that could be real or were real so enjoy my selection of human monsters who after seeing have always had a place in my nightmares and it'd be cool if you had a few of your own to share. So pleasant dreams fuckers.

I'm beginning the site overhaul with a review of Shogun Assassin a 1980 Samurai B Movie which since the 80's has been a favourite of mine. Now I intend to bring all kinds of films over the coming weeks and all I ask is you give some a go. You may like them all and hey you may not like any of them but I've always believed that to truly appreciate the art you love you need to see that you hate. Let me put it another way. Texas Chainsaw in fucking 3D is just digital enhanced bollocks and makes me want to chainsaw off my fucking face and douse it in vinegar. However neither of these remakes, reimaginings hurt me as much as the upcoming remake of Evil Dead which as me so fucking angry and lost for words. Why remake a remake of such a classic and pivotal film in horror history. Hollywood can make original horror just ask Joss Wheedon so why this bollocks? I really do give in but I will show you with the new format that if you look you can find some good shit out there.

When I began writing for this wonderful piece of shit site it was a dream come true. To be able to get word out there of upcoming releases and review screenings etc was to a cinephile like myself a moment of unrivalled ecstasy. However when I became ill my whole world changed as did my perspective on what life really meant. I was no longer happy with the content of the site and I began to write less and less. However in the last few weeks I have finally awoken from my slumber and awoken my army of specially trained ninja monkeys and I am about to bring you the new style of FOF.
You see I figured that if you need a review of Skyfall or The Avengers you're not coming here for it and why would you? I mean the critics at Total Film are not going to see these films on the day of release are they. They'll see them way before and therefore will bring you a decision making review. However I can give you something they rarely do and that's a firm eye on the lesser known gems of cinema. Want to know your Dead Snow from your Norwegian Ninja? Or your Robot Giesha from your Helldriver? Well this will be the place to come. Of course I will give you trailers etc of the big stuff too but will rarely review them. From now on I want you to start seeing the films you always miss. Mainstream cinema generally disappoints nowadays with it's endless fucking remakes as I will show you shortly with three classic fuck ups in the offing and I think you desrve more. So as they say where I come from "sit back, grab your balls and prepare for the ride because it's going to be a weird one". By the way they don't say that at all. Let's go fuckers.

Sometimes you wake to news that makes you just go oh shit! I care little for idiots locked up in embassies or the immature tweeting of premiership footballers but when people who have influenced me and entertained me pass away I always take a moment to reflect. The passing of Tony Scott is indeed a sad moment and the thought that he may have taken his own life resonates with me as it serves a timely reminder that you may seem to have all you want but sadly sometimes things are still missing. Scott was one of Hollywoods finest directors and a real rarity in his ability to remember to sometimes just have some fun with his films. His list of films is a long one and I'm sure many of you have your favourites but as just a taster I love Man On Fire, The Last Boy Scout, True Romance, Unstoppable and the classic that is Top Gun. So wherever you are if you have time in the next few days don't raise a glass but watch one of his films and remember what made him one of my and your favourite directors of the last 30 years. Mr Scott FOF salutes you. R.I.P.

However I will say that this is one of the best teaser trailers I've seen in a long time.

I have to say that the new one is looking alot better and it seems the helmet may be staying on. Less glitz more grime. Like Croydon on a saturday night I guess. Anyway this looks like it could have it right so and Urban looks like a good Dread.

Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 11:20AM Over the last few years I have been following the exploits of a character called Jack Reacher in a series of books by Lee Child. For those who don't know Reacher is an ex MP who drofts from town to town and ends up in all kinds of trouble as he discovers corrupt sherrifs, unsolved murders etc. He's a ladies man, hard as fucking nails amd not to be messed with. I've always wanted them to be made into films but struggled with who might play him because you see Reachers real strength is that he's 6'5" and built like the proverbial brick shithouse. So my disappointment has been confirmed in Tom Cruise being given the role. A fucking midget, alien worshipping, sofa bouncing, smiling freak. All I will say is Ben Affleck in Daredevil. This will be shit.

However the man in question is Rza of the Wu Tang Clan who I know has a love for martial arts film that like myself goes beyond obsession. If you know anything about the films of the Asia then watch this and marvel at it because if he has managed to make the whole film this good it could be very fucking special.
